A cabin that once housed enslaved people in Spring Hill will receive restoration support through an $87,025 grant awarded to the city by the Tennessee State Museum.
The funding is designated for restoring the historic structure, preserving a physical connection to slavery in Middle Tennessee. Spring Hill lies south of Nashville, spanning parts of Williamson and Maury counties.
Buildings associated with the lives of enslaved people are an important part of Tennessee's historical landscape. Their preservation can help communities examine local history through the places where people lived, alongside written records and other historical evidence.
