An 80,000-square-foot depot has been completed in Nashville to support Waymo’s vehicle fleet, adding a dedicated location for the work that keeps the vehicles operating.
Waymo developed the facility in partnership with Flexdrive by Lyft. Vehicles will be charged, serviced and maintained at the hub, bringing those fleet-support functions into one location.
The depot represents the behind-the-scenes infrastructure needed to support Waymo’s passenger service. Rather than serving as a destination for riders, its stated role is to provide care and upkeep for the vehicles that carry them.
Lyft Chief Policy Officer Jerry Golden highlighted the scale of the completed facility during a look inside the hub, describing it as impressive.
Nashville is one of 15 cities where Waymo service is available. The completed depot gives the company and its fleet partner a substantial local facility dedicated to supporting those operations.
