A longtime part of Nashville’s riverfront entertainment is nearing its farewell: The General Jackson Showboat is scheduled to make its final public cruise on Dec. 15, 2026.
The date marks the end of four decades on the Cumberland River for the showboat, whose public cruises have combined a trip on the water with dining and live entertainment.
Based in the Opryland area, the General Jackson has offered residents and visitors a way to experience Nashville from the river rather than from its streets. Its name honors Andrew Jackson, the seventh U.S. president, whose Hermitage estate is also a Nashville landmark.
The scheduled December departure will close that longstanding chapter of the city’s tourism and entertainment offerings.
